An 18-year-old driver from Washington state was killed in a head-on crash with a vehicle making an unsafe pass on U.S. 93 south of Lakeside on Wednesday evening.
The Montana Highway Patrol reported the teen from Yacolt, Wash., was driving a Honda Accord southbound about 7:20 p.m. near Angel Point when a 25-year-old Kalispell man driving a Ford Transit van maneuvered unsafely into the passing lane and collided with the Accord.
Both vehicles rolled into a ditch, and the Transit van came to rest on top of the Accord.
The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kalispell man was taken to Logan Health Medical Center with injuries.
Speed was a factor in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol. Road conditions were wet.
