Families will be notified of status by April 15

The application window for the inaugural year of Idaho’s Parental Choice Tax Credit is officially closed.

Families who applied for the program will be notified of their application status by April 15. A total of 6,069 applications were submitted, representing 13,568 students participating in the program.

“Idaho families showed up in a big way, and we couldn’t be happier that so many are choosing unique paths to best support their child’s learning,” Heidie Nesset, vice president of implementation at yes. every kid. nonprofit, said in a news release.

Parental Choice Tax Credit program details:

• Eligible parents can expect to claim a tax credit for education-related expenses, including tuition, books, tutoring, curriculum, and certain transportation expenses
• Credits range from $5,000 per student to $7,500 for children with qualifying disabilities
• Priority was given to households at or below 300% of the federal poverty level ($93,600 for a family of four)
• Program is capped at $50 million for 2026
