Arthur William Schroeder passed peacefully from this world on March 30, 2026. Arthur was born Jan. 24, 1942, to Ida and William Schroeder in Kalispell. Art was the eldest of three boys, including his brothers Victor and James. He grew up on the family farm on Whitefish Stage Road and graduated from Flathead High School in 1960.

Art married Gloria Nielsen on March 6, 1965, on a beautiful sunny day at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Together, they had two sons. Roger arrived first and Jerold followed four years later.

Arthur was a hard worker all of his life. He delivered fuel oil for Don McClarty at Standard Oil. He worked as a millwright at Superior Lumber before turning to his true passion of farming. He farmed grain, mint, hay and made sure it was done right and to his high standard.

Art is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria; his sons, Jerry (wife Sydney) and Roger (wife Lori); grandchildren, Sarah, Madison, Isaac and Wylie and his sister-in-law, Christine.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor and James and his parents, Ida and William.

Art loved snowmobiling, stock car racing and going to the drag races with his boys in Las Vegas. He loved working on his farm equipment and getting as dirty as he could possibly get. He had many different trucks, tractors and cars that he loved to keep on the farm. He had a hard time selling anything, as evidenced by everything that has stacked up on the farm property over the years.

Art will be remembered as a kind, stubborn farmer who loved his friends and family mightily.

We invite all who knew and loved Art to his funeral at Johnson's Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on April 11, followed by a reception at the VFW, where we will share memories, photos and enjoy each other's company in honor of one heck of a farmer, dad, husband and friend, Art Schroeder.
