Gus 'George' T. Mariner, 76

Gus "George" T. Mariner, 76, of Columbia Falls, died March 5, 2026, of cancer at the Montana Veterans Home. He was born June 23, 1949, to George M. and Geraldine Mariner in Bremerton, Washington.

He graduated from North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Washington and went to college in Bremerton, Washington, for a year and decided "they had enough of me, and I had enough of them" and quit. He enlisted in the Navy in January of 1969. He served during the Vietnam War and was a small ships operator. Gus was honorably discharged in May 1970. Before and after the Navy, he worked for multiple printing companies before retiring at an early age in 1993. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mariner; his children, Chelle, Brian, Jaime, Luke, Elaine and Violet; his stepchildren, Amber and Holly; grandchildren, Dyllan, Kyle, Cameron, Jacob, Remington, Freyja, Ember, Tove, Ellie, Oliver, Nora, Raevin, Shade, Ivy and Allie; sister, Pamela and Micheal McNeil; and brother, Bill Mariner. 

Gus’ parents, George and Geraldine, and his sister, Dianne Kimball, preceded him in death.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on April 25 in Hungry Horse, just past Hungry Horse Dam Road off of U.S. 2 on the right near Timber Wolf Resort. Just follow the balloons.
