PREP ROUNDUP: Charter's Oyler, Meine win at Oregon Relays

• TRACK AND FIELD

EUGENE — Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Helen Oyler won the girls 800 meters in 2 minutes, 15.50 seconds, beating 58 other competitors in the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field on Saturday.

Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Reagan Meine won the girls 300 hurdle Open in 44.43, beating 52 other competitors. 

Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Annabelle Carr was second in the girls 800 the Circuit High Voltage Championship (elite) race, finishing in 2:10.30. 

Coeur d’Alene senior Mitchell Rietze was fourth out of 57 competitors in the boys 800, finishing in 1:55.19. 

The Vikings’ distance medley relay team of sophomore Rowan Henry, junior Emmett McLachlan, Rietze and junior Wyatt Carr finished 12th in 10:38.36 in the High Voltage Championship (elite) race. 


• SOFTBALL

Lakeland wins two in Frenchtown 

FRENCHTOWN, Mont. — Abby Helmholz squeezed home courtesy runner Tessa Logan with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Lakeland defeated Polson 13-12. 

Lakeland later beat Frenchtown 9-7. 

In the first game, Lakeland rallied from an 8-2 deficit after 4 ½ innings against Polson.  

Kiersten Drake and Raygen Dutton each homered in a nine-run fifth for the Hawks (6-3). 

Reese Vanek went 3 for 5 with three RBIs for Lakeland, and Dutton was also 3 for 5. 

Against Frenchtown, Vanek hit a two-run double to break a 5-all tie, part of a four-run inning for the Hawks. For the day, Vanek was 5 for 10 with five RBIs and four runs scored. 

Delilah Zimmerman had a pair of RBI singles for Lakeland. 

Lakeland travels to Timberlake on Tuesday for a doubleheader.
