Law roundup: Woman cooks up pot pie theft

A woman called the Kalispell Police Department from a fast-food restaurant, repeating that she needed to be picked up by officers and taken to jail because she reportedly “took a chicken pot pie and ran.” Then, she ate the pie, which she allegedly stole from a location she knew she was trespassing in. Officers determined the alleged chicken pot pie theft at the location was unfounded.
Officers responded to a report of a man acting erratically and running around a parking lot after going into a pizza place asking employees to call the police. Then, he allegedly ran across U.S. 93 where it looked like he ran into a motel.
A man wearing orange sneakers reportedly almost fell off an orange pedal bike while riding around a building on Meridian Court, staring at apartment buildings, which someone thought was suspicious and called the police. The caller said they thought he might be intoxicated or on drugs. He was gone when officers arrived at the location.
A passerby reported a tow truck had lost a tire and was stuck in the middle of the bypass between the north and south lanes. Officers drove by and saw it on the side of the road, not impeding traffic. The driver said someone was on their way to help.
A driver complained that a man's large sign on a street corner was blocking traffic turning out of Hutton Ranch Plaza. Officers drove through the intersection and determined the sign was not blocking any views.
A man allegedly saw his ex out walking and circled the block in his vehicle, following her and ignoring her when she yelled at him to leave her alone. Officers advised him to head on over to the police department and pick up a stalking notice.
A man reportedly had a fairly tough time removing a large green sticker someone had plastered on the driver’s side window of his vehicle, impeding visibility. Then, he spotted stickers inside the car parked next to him.
He said he didn’t want to press charges, but wanted an officer to talk to the suspect, saying he was parked in a handicapped spot and had the proper license plate designation to do so. The responding officer gave the suspect a stern warning not to engage in criminal mischief again, or she could be in legal trouble.
A swerving semi traveling northbound on U.S. 93 was reportedly unable to maintain lanes, which another driver thought was due to overloading the truck, which looked to be hauling granite. The semi driver told an officer that he checked the weight that morning and it was in “good working weight.”
Officers received an online report of a stolen Bosch 800 FT rotary laser kit valued at $719 with video available.
A man reportedly refused to leave a clinic and the director wanted him banned from the property.
Grocery store staff reportedly saw a trespasser standing outside the front doors. She was cited and released by officers who gave her some food and water.
