POST FALLS — A school district system error set off a lockdown alarm this morning at Treaty Rock Elementary School in Post Falls.

All students and staff are safe, Post Falls Police reported.

According to a news release, the Post Falls Police Department was alerted to a "lockdown” alarm at Treaty Rock just before noon. Officers were on scene within minutes and immediately entered the building. In an abundance of caution, law enforcement from the Idaho State Police, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Rathdrum Police Department also responded to the scene.

After a thorough check of the building and the surrounding area, officials determined a school district system error caused a false alarm.

While unrelated, Post Falls Middle School was conducting a practice lockdown shortly before the accidental lockdown at Treaty Rock. There was no threat to students or staff at either school. Normal school activities have resumed.
