Eagle boys basketball coach Pickett resigns; Timberline coach moves to Rocky

After 15 seasons coaching high school basketball, Eagle High boys basketball coach Cody Pickett told the Idaho Statesman he felt it was time to step away.

“Ultimately, times change, people change, players change. The parents changed, admins changed,” Pickett told the Statesman. “It was just time for me to make a change for what’s best for my family. I get to be a full-time dad.”

Pickett coached the Eagle boys the past six seasons, after coaching the Eagle girls for seven seasons. He coached the North Star Charter boys for two years (2011-13), leading the Huskies to state for the first time in program history.

He guided the Eagle girls to the state 5A title in 2019.

In 15 seasons as a varsity coach, Pickett was 258-128 (67%), with 12 state tournament appearances. His teams won six state tournament trophies and played for the state title three times.

As a star quarterback at Caldwell High, Pickett played at Lake City in the first round of the state 4A playoffs. He went on to play at the University of Washington and in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.

• Timberline High boys basketball coach Travis Noble is leaving the Wolves after eight seasons to become boys coach at Rocky Mountain in Meridian, the Statesman reported, citing an Instagram post from the Grizzlies.

Noble was 114-87 at Timberline, qualifying for state five times.

In 2024, Timberline defeated Coeur d'Alene in overtime in the state semifinals. This year, the Wolves fell to Lake City in the first round of the state 6A tournament.
