SARS wins team title at PNW Buddy Werner Championships

BEND, Ore. — Amongst a field of over 220 athletes from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, the Schweitzer Alpine Racing School (SARS) and its 30 competitors rose to the top and captured the overall combined team title at the 2026 Pacific Northwest (PNW) Buddy Werner Championships held March 27 through 29 at Mt. Bachelor ski resort.
The boys placed first overall as a team behind a top finish from Miles Cardin, who placed second in the Slalom, an event in which Jonah Baroni also finished eighth. In the Giant Slalom, Jack Elgee finished eighth, Cardin 12th, and Easton Chartrey 13th. Beau Pederson was crowned the Skills Quest competition overall winner.
The girls placed fourth overall as a team, with Aubrey Dix leading the way with fourth-and-fifth place finishes, respectively, in the Giant Slalom and Slalom. Helena Hughes added a 10th-place finish in the Slalom while Margot Mitchell captured 11th.
"SARS extends its congratulations to travel coaches Meg Wolf, Brandon "Moondog" Moon, Mark Pederson, Tassia Hamer and Olin Elgee for their expert guidance, and to the 30 athletes for their dedication and achievement on the regional stage," SARS stated in a news release.
