James "Jim" Timothy Driskell, 81, passed away on March 12, 2026, after a long struggle with COPD.
He was born Aug. 31, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Vada Mae Driskell (née McKaughan) and Evans Delbert Driskell. He grew up with his brothers, Charles "Charlie" Edward Driskell and Delbert Ray Driskell, in Arizona before moving to Northern California, where he graduated from South Fork High School in Miranda. He often spoke fondly of his early years among the Redwoods.
Jim worked as a retail meat cutter for 42 years, retiring in management. He passed those skills on to his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to process their own deer and the value of a sharp knife.
He is survived by his children, James "Jimmy" Edward Driskell (Melissa) and Deanne Marie Johnson (née Driskell) (Scott), and Ann’s son, Robert Dewbre. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel, Kelly, Patrick, Cody, Kristina, Marissa and James, and through marriage to Robert’s children, Carli, Caleb and Bobby. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Arya, Theodore "Teddy," Harper, Sage and Chester.
Jim moved to Montana in his forties, where he met his wife of nearly 31 years, Anastasia "Ann" (Herriges) Driskell. They were married March 17, 1995, and built a home together that remained a great source of pride.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and building with his hands, and he loved teaching his grandchildren. Known for his sharp wit and strong opinions, he also carried a deep love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his grandson, Bobby Dewbre.
A celebration of life will be held at The Farm on June 6, 2026. Details to follow.
