Jeanne (Dietz) Morris was born in North Dakota on July 15, 1930, the youngest of five. The family moved to Pendleton, Ore., where Don and Jeanne met while working at Harris Pine Mills. Don graduated from Gem State Academy in 1947, and Jeanne graduated from Upper Columbia Academy in 1948. Don went on to become a registered X-ray tech and a licensed nursing home administrator.
They were married on Aug. 8, 1948, in Pendleton, Ore. Don spent two years in the army, after which they moved to Pasco, Wash., and had two children, Linda and Brian.
The Morris family moved to Ritzville in 1965. In 1966, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to purchase Pinewood Manor. In 1968, they bought and built LaCrosse Convalescent Center. In 1972, they built and ran the first retirement place in Coeur d’Alene, now called Bestland, where Jeanne spent her last five years.
Don and Jeanne retired in the 1990’s and did some extensive traveling, both locally and abroad. Don loved playing his banjo and guitar, and in 2020, he passed away while playing his guitar, something he truly loved. Jeanne loved to crochet and cook for friends and family.
They lost their beloved daughter, Linda, in 2006. Their son, Brian and his wife, Davina, live in Coeur d’Alene. Don and Jeanne loved and enjoyed their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never passed up an opportunity to play games or share a moment with friends and family over a meal or simply dessert and coffee.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
