Rehearsals for Spiritsong and the Boundless vocal ensemble will begin the first week of May, with new singers welcome to join.

Both ensembles, conducted by Vicki Blake Thompson, are preparing for concerts scheduled for Oct. 23-25. Rehearsals will continue through mid-June, break for the summer and resume in September.

Spiritsong, a women’s choir, rehearses from 7:15 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at Trinity Lutheran Church on Cody Street in Bonners Ferry for local singers, and from 7:15 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Trinity United Church in Creston, British Columbia, for Canadian singers.

Boundless, a men’s ensemble, rehearses from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry.

New members may attend the first rehearsal or request music previews and practice recordings by contacting Thompson at [email protected]

The choirs perform annually in Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry and Creston, and offer touring opportunities every couple of years. Recent tours have included destinations such as Tanzania, Iceland, Cuba and Costa Rica, as well as Carnegie Hall in New York City. This summer, the ensembles will be performing in London, England, as well as a tour in Scotland.

This season’s program will feature a mix of Scottish folk music and works by contemporary American composer Dan Forrest.

Thompson has directed choirs in the region since 1996, with her ensembles performing at state and regional music conventions and international festivals.
