A Polson man was committed to five years with the Montana Department of Corrections, with none of that time suspended, for criminal endangerment. Jonathan Paul Korman, 34, was also given another 10 years with the DOC with five years suspended for assault with a weapon.
The sentence, handed down in District Court in Polson on April 2, was in accordance with a plea agreement reached Feb. 12. Judge John A. Mercer gave Korman credit for having already served 277 days in jail.
According to charging documents, late on the evening of June 29, 2025, Korman wrestled another person to the ground, while holding a knife, outside of a tavern in the 200 block of Main Street in Polson. Korman also threatened a second person with the knife after fleeing down Main Street.
Polson Police and other law enforcement apprehended Korman at the intersection of Fifth Ave. West and Second Street West a short time later. According to the police report, he spit on one of the arresting officers.
During the change of plea hearing, Korman, through his public defender Anthony Romano, acknowledged he was impaired and did not remember all the events that occurred that evening.
