The Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program is excited to welcome Kris Crocker back to Bonners Ferry to emcee this year’s Distinguished Young Women scholarship program, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Bonners Ferry High School Becker Auditorium.

Crocker, 4 News Now’s Chief Meteorologist, has emceed for the program in the past and has graciously agreed to lend her talents again this year, program officials said.

Nominated for five Emmy awards, Crocker has earned the coveted “Seal of Approval” from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. She graduated from Mississippi State University, completing the broadcast meteorology program and earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism and communications at Oklahoma State University.

Crocker started her weather career in 1993 in her hometown of Idaho Falls. She has also worked at television stations in Lansing and Flint, Michigan. She and her husband, Jerry, have three children: Sophie, Danny, and Gabrielle. They also share their home with several cats and dogs. The Crockers love to take advantage of the many outdoor activities in the Inland Northwest, but they especially like to ski, snowboard, run, and golf. In the community, Kris has played violin with the Spokane Falls Community Orchestra, is an avid Spokane Symphony goer, and is a member of the Spokane Symphony Associates. She is an active fundraiser for many local charity organizations and is the driving force behind 4 News Now’s Coats 4 Kids campaign.

Local DYW committee members said they are grateful to Crocker for hosting the program. Tickets for this year’s program, “Decades,” will be on sale Monday, April 13, at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store. Tickets are $15, with proceeds supporting the scholarship fund. Seats are reserved, and early purchase is encouraged.

The participant chosen as this year’s Distinguished Young Woman of Bonners Ferry will represent our community at the state competition in Idaho Falls this coming October. Should she win there, she will represent Idaho in the national finals to be held in June 2027.
