Glacier held serve Thursday to take a pair of tennis dual wins over crosstown rival Flathead at FVCC.

Both Wolfpack squads nabbed 7-1 victories on a warm April afternoon.

“I thought we played some solid tennis,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said. “Our doubles teams really took control at the net and our singles players really grinded out some of them and found their range.”

The Wolfpack doubles squads were 8-0 on the day with three of the girls pairings taking 6-0, 6-0 wins. No. 1 pairing Miley Fritz and Reid Sanders defeated Flathead’s Nina Parris and Sienna Blanchard 6-1, 6-1.

In singles, Leilani Lennarz outdueled Sara Loran 6-2, 6-3 to take the victory.

Allie Goff took the lone win for Flathead’s ladies, besting Clara Norick 6-2, 6-3.

“Lots of new faces out there, everyone is pretty new and just learning it,” Flathead coach Kaitlyn Schelbert said. “I think we are getting used to playing matches and there’s lots of smiles and we are having fun.”

On the boys side, Colton Mantovani defeated Rowan Alexander in one of the best matches of the day. Mantovani claimed the opening set 6-3 as Alexander then forced a third set with a 6-2 win. Mantovani prevailed in the final set 6-1.

“(Mantovani) has taken some leadership roles as he adapts to the team,” Munro said of the junior transfer. “He comes in at a good time where we did not have a lot of returning leaders, so he is able to step in and fill that role.”

Storm Lister was the lone Flathead victor on the boys side, taking a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gavin Pyron.
