Larry Marvin Quimby 84. A cornerstone of the Rathdrum and Silver Valley communities, he died on March 18, 2026, at his home in Twin Lakes, Idaho, leaving behind a legacy of mentorship and leadership that spanned several decades and communities. He had a big smile that warmed everyone he came across and an even bigger heart. A family man and a tireless community servant, Larry spent his life investing in the next generation and strengthening the organizations that make North Idaho home.

Born to Lebert Dwayne Hults and Gladys Ruby Quimby on Nov. 30, 1942, in Kellogg, Idaho. He grew up on the Coeur d'Alene River with his mom, stepfather Lawrence Quimby, and his seven siblings. He attended Kellogg High School, where he played football, and later played for Boise State. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany on the Berlin Wall. When he returned home, he met and married a local Silver Valley girl, Mary Ann Calabretta, on May 14, 1966. They settled in Pinehurst, Idaho, where he served as President of the Jaycees and started their family. They were blessed with 3 children, David, Ryan and Dawn.

In 1976, they moved to Helena, Mont., where he continued working in construction and sold cars for a short period. His passion for youth sports and development was evident over the years as a Jr. Tackle coach, during his tenure as the President of the Helena Wrestling Club, and as a founding member of the Mount Helena Gymnastics Academy, which still runs today.

In 1986, he moved his family for the last time to Rathdrum, Idaho, where he continued coaching and volunteering, helping to shape the lives of countless athletes. He became a prominent figure in the community and eventually the President of the Rathdrum Lions Club, where he donated his time and skills, giving back to the community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lebbert Dwayne Hults, Gladys Ruby Busby, and Lawrence Quimby, his brothers Ray Hults, Fred Quimby, and Eddie Quimby, his daughter-in-law Valerie Quimby, his grandson Phoenix Rupf, and his great-granddaughter Harper Pursley.

He is survived by his partner of 37 years, Judy Cooper; his beloved children, David Quimby of Rathdrum, Ryan Quimby of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Dawn Quimby of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and Stepchildren, Tim Cooper of Rathdrum and Angie Cooper of Rathdrum. He was the proud grandpa to 15 grandchildren, all of whom he adored, and 3 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way.

He will be remembered not only for his extensive professional and civic accomplishments but also as a man who truly cared about others. He will be missed by many.

Please join us for a service and Celebration of Life at Real Life Ministries - North Campus in Athol on May 9 at 2 p.m., with a reception potluck to follow. All are welcome.
