Hearing for Swan Lake wake zone petition postponed

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will no longer review a petition to extend the no wake zone on Swan Lake during their April 16 meeting. 

The agenda item was removed earlier this week at the request of the petitioners. The petitioners plan to reintroduce the measure at the Aug. 19 commission meeting. 

An initial public comment period on the petition concluded March 29. Comments submitted during that time will be retained and added to any new comments received during a public comment period prior to the August meeting. 

If the petition is approved, commissioners will begin the rule-making process to implement a 500 foot no wake zone on Swan Lake. The lake is currently subject to a 200 foot no wake zone.
