Troy softball comeback falls short

The Troy Lady Trojans battled back from an early deficit but ultimately came up short in a 17-15 loss to Mission-Arlee-Charlo varsity on April 3 in a high-scoring contest.
After falling behind 9-0 through the first three innings, Troy began to chip away, scoring one run in the fourth before erupting for five runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. The Lady Trojans added six runs in the seventh to nearly complete the comeback, finishing with 17 hits.
Eliah Wallace led the offensive surge with a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. Ellie Borgmann also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Halle Wallace added three hits and three RBIs. Kirsti Jellesed contributed two hits, scored four runs and drove in a run. Hailey Dungan drove in one run on two hits.
Addyson Fisher chipped in with a hit, two runs and an RBI, while Claire Folkerts added two hits and a run scored. The Lady Trojans got power from Ellah Wallace who had a double and a triple. Ellie Borgmann also had a triple, while Halle Wallace and Kristi Jellesed notched doubles.
Despite the late push, Troy was unable to overcome MAC’s early offensive outburst. MAC scored nine runs in the first three innings and added six more in the sixth to keep the Lady Trojans at bay.
In the circle, Halle Wallace took the loss, allowing 12 runs—though none were earned—over 3.1 innings while striking out two. Folkerts pitched the final 3.2 innings, giving up five runs with four strikeouts.
Defensively, Troy was charged with four errors. Troy is now 4-1 on the season. The Lady Trojans play at Plains Friday, then host Thompson Falls Saturday.
