Christian Center School celebrated an evening of generosity March 6 at its Annual Auction when $120,000 was raised in support of the Legacy Project, a campaign to expand the CCS campus and build a state-of-the-art gymnasium.

The event brought together families, supporters and community members to honor the legacy that has shaped CCS since 1979 and the legacy still to come. Over the past 47 years, CCS has had only four principals, three of whom attended the auction along with several original teachers. The school also remembered its founding principal, Jerry Rice, who died last month.

“This evening was a beautiful reminder of the legacy that has been built at Christian Center School over the past 47 years,” Principal Annie Marshall said in a Thursday news release. “We are grateful for the faithful leadership, teachers and families who have poured into this school, and we’re excited to continue building a future where students are equipped to lead and serve for God’s glory.”

CCS continues to provide preK-12th grade students with a rigorous, Christ-centered education. The first phase of the Legacy project is focused on constructing a multi-court gymnasium. The total cost is expected to be $9.1 million. Over $7.5 million has already been raised. A committed donor has secured 80% of the funding. The groundbreaking is planned for May.

During the second phase, 5 acres adjacent to CCS will be purchased and a sustainability fund will be established. The total goal is $3.6 million.

Funds from the Annual Auction bring CCS closer to completing the first phase and continuing momentum into the second.
