PREP ROUNDUP: Stevens smacks fourth career homer during doubleheader against Lakeland
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 hours, 48 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | April 11, 2026 1:00 AM

Lakeland 15, Sandpoint 3 (5)
SANDPOINT — There's a reason she'll be playing softball at the college level next season.
Senior Arah Stevens smashed her fourth career home run since joining the team as a junior — a solo shot to left field to lead off the fourth frame — sophomore Raelyn Olsen chipped in a 2-for-2 effort with a pair of singles, and the Lady Bulldogs were run-ruled in the opener of a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader held Thursday at War Memorial Field.
Stevens, who also singled, had two runs scored in addition to what was her second homer on the year for Sandpoint, which had seven hits in total. Sophomore Taylor Bannick continued her hitting streak with an RBI single in the second inning while fellow sophomore Avery Inge accounted for the Lady Bulldogs' final run in the fourth with an RBI single to center. Junior Teagan Newsom contributed a single and a run scored as well.
Raygen Dutton and Jaiden Corbey each had a double and a home run and were responsible for seven of 12 RBIs for Lakeland, which scored 12 of their 15 runs across the fourth and fifth innings.
