Softball: Flathead, Glacier both sweep Helena schools

The Flathead Bravettes put two in the win column Saturday, making short work of Helena High 13-1 before holding off Helena Capital 11-6 in Western AA softball action at ABS Park.
Glacier also swept the Helena schools.
June Stickney threw five almost spotless innings in Flathead’s run-rule win over Helena; she allowed four hits, one run and struck out nine.
Tegan Strause and Kinsey Lake each drove in three runs for the Bravettes (2-4); Lake’s two-run single put her team up 6-0 in the third inning.
Flathead pushed across seven runs in the fourth. Olivia Nyman’s two-run double started things, and she came in on double by Strauss. Reese Rosenberg also doubled in the inning and cane in on Lily Anderson’s two-run single.

The Bravettes ran out to a 10-0 in this one, then weathered a comeback by the Bruins.
A walk and five straight singles sparked a six-run third inning for Flathead, including a bunt single from Danica Hennell that brought Reese Rosenberg and made it 7-0.
After Capital got a double play, Makenna Korf followed with a two-run double. Korf came in on an error to make it 10-0.
Macey McIlhargey pitched into the sixth inning for Flathead, allowing 12 hits and three earned runs. She struck out two. Stickney got the final four outs, all by strikeout.
Stickney had two hits and scored twice; Strauss, Paulina Holland and Lake also scored twice.

Olivia Warriner hit a pair of home runs, the second capping an eight-run fifth inning, as Glacier rallied past Helena Capital on the Wolfpack’s home diamond.
The Pack then beat Helena High 11-1 to improve to 6-0 this season.
Warriner hit a home run to lead off the first for the Pack, before Capital (1-2) rallied to take a 5-2 lead in the third inning.
It was still 5-2 in the fifth when Glacier strung together six singles with two walks to fuel its rally. Sophia Frederick’s RBI single gave the Pack a 6-5 lead; Tensley Conner’s single drove in a run to make it 8-5 and Warriner followed with her second homer, a two-run shot.
The Bruins got one run back in the sixth, but Glacier answered with another six runs: Capital pitching issued six walks in the frame, and Karley Allen’s two-run single made it 16-6 and ended the game under the mercy rule.
Warriner and Ava Grady split the pitching duties. Warriner allowed seven hits, two walks and four earned runs in three innings; she struck out one. Grady allowed three hits and one run, fanning six.

This one also ended in six innings under the mercy rule, with Warriner besting the Bengals on two hits. She walked two, struck out six and helped her own cause with three hits, including a double.
The game ended when Addy Cunningham’s two-out grounder was misplayed, and two runs scored to push the gap to 10.
Emma Smith had three hits and two RBIs for the Pack. Joslyn Crofts and Grady each scored three times.
Helena fell to 0-4.

POLSON — Jaliyah Pierre hit two doubles in the first game and Natalie Nash homered in the second game as Polson swept a Northwest A doubleheader from Whitefish.
Pierre and Ahri Rushing head drove in three runs in the opener; Rushing was 3-for-3 at the top of the order and scored three times. Nash doubled, drove in a run and scored twice for the Lady Pirates; Maddie Turner scored three times.
Turner, Logan McCrea and Kendyl Jaeger split the pitching, combining a four-inning no-hitter; Turner allowed five walks and all four Bulldog runs.
In the second game, Nash’s three-run home run in the first got the ball rolling. McCrea and Nash each hit RBI doubles in the second inning; Rushing hit two RBI singles in Polson’s eight-run third. Graci Hammer had an RBI triple in that frame as well.
Turner went the distance in the run rule-shortened game, allowing three hits and two walks in five innings. She fanned six.
Charlei Walz, Avery Britz and Jaylynn Johnson all had hits for Whitefish (0-4).
Polson 15, Browning 0
POLSON — Leilani Oldhorn’s two singles led the Polson offense, which supplemented 10 walks and a hit batter by Browning pitching with 11 hits.
Analeigh Bryant and Turner hit doubles for the Lady Pirates; Turner, Peyton Crocket and Aubrie Nash each handed an inning in the circle; the game ended after three innings under the mercy rule.
Columbia Falls 17, Libby 7
COLUMBIA FALLS — Onnika Lawrence hit three doubles, had four hits overall and scored four times in the Wildkats’ six-inning Northwest A win.
Bella Mann tripled and drove in three runs from her No. 2 spot in the order; Lawrence drove in three runs from the 3-hole and Columbia Falls (4-1) rapped out 17 hits.
Kylie Gjesdal-Davis and Kate Lewellen had three hits each; Gjesdal-Davis and Katie Bulawsky each socked a double. Bulawsky went the distance in the circle, allowing nine hits, a walk and six earned runs. She struck out six.
Hadleigh Wood and Weslee MacDonald hit home runs for Libby (3-1). MacDonald’s three-run shot in the third narrowed the Wildkat lead to 6-5. Woods homered to lead off the fifth, but C-Falls still led 12-6.
Ronan 15, Browning 0
RONAN — Alexa Youngren and Esther Montoya combined on a five-inning one-hitter for Ronan, which combined seven hits with 11 walks and four hit batters to put away Browning.
Kai-Cee Sorrell, Marie Cheff and Shelby Taylor all hit doubles for the Chiefs. Cheff had two hits. Keeley Jackson drove in a run and scored twice.
Youngren threw two hitless innings, allowing a walk and striking out four. Montoya allowed a single but also struck out eight.
Plains 13, Eureka 11
PLAINS — Karissa French’s three-run double in the bottom of the sixth put Plains up 11-10, and Claire Lakko’s RBI single capped what was a nine-run inning for the Trotters.
Montana Taylor had three hits; Bri Kulawinski scored three times and drove in a run. Emery Josephsen had a double for Plains.
For Eureka, Marley Nessvig hit a pair of doubles and drove in four runs; Tessa Seiler also had three hits and four RBIs for the Lions.
Eureka worked Plains pitching for four singles and Seiler’s RBI double in a four-run sixth inning that put the Lions up 11-4.
Troy 11, Thompson Falls-Noxon 10
TROY — Ellie Borgmann had four hits, and her one-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Troy over Thompson Falls-Noxon in a back-and-forth Class B battle.
Borgmann’s hit signified the fifth lead change of the game: the Bluehawks’ Nevaeh Christensen hit a two-run single to cap a four-run sixth inning that put her team up 10-7; a single by Kirsti Jellesed and back to back doubles from Borgmann and Hailey Dungan let Troy knot things up in its half of the inning.
Borgmann drove in three runs; Ellah Wallace had two hits and scored three times for Troy (6-1). For the Blue Hawks (2-6), Christensen had three RBIs, including a solo home run. Kassidy Dana also homered and hit a double, and Audrey Fairbank had a triple and two RBIs.
