John Howard McRae, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and quiet resilience.

He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1974. He was actively involved in supporting fellow veterans and found enjoyment in camping and building model kits.

John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and that sense of duty carried through every part of his life. He valued hard work, independence, and doing things his own way. Those who knew him understood his character — steadfast, determined, and deeply rooted in his beliefs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his nephew.

He is survived by his three brothers, a niece, two nephews, and several cousins, along with extended family and friends.

He is remembered by his family for the life he lived and the impact he made. His presence was felt, and his life will not be forgotten.

His family will honor his life and ensure he is laid to rest with the dignity and respect he deserves. There will be a graveside service for John on May 8 at 11:15 a.m. at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life.
