Law roundup: Don’t worry, it’s just a ‘one beer job’

A front desk employee called the Kalispell Police Department, concerned that a bearded man wearing a trench coat, who walked in holding a beer, would drive drunk. The man, who was staying at the motel, reportedly told officers he was working on his car, saying it was only a “one beer job” and that he wouldn’t be driving anytime soon. He also didn’t appear to be intoxicated to the officers.
A grandmother went to the police department to report an ongoing issue allegedly involving a boy who kept sneaking into her apartment through her grandson’s window and sleeping in his closet. Officers advised her to lock the windows, tell her grandson not to let him in, and to call if he returned.
A man reportedly stood outside a law office, picketing the firm and harassing clients, trying to deter them from going in. Officers found that he was legally parked, had a few protest signs in his truck, and reportedly spoke to a few people, who asked him what was going on, but did not approach any clients. It didn’t appear to officers that he was engaging in any criminal activity.
Someone asked officers to check on a man who reportedly limped his way into an office, saying he was hit by a car the previous night and wanted a ride to Missoula or Polson. When they offered to call for an ambulance, he initially declined but then asked for medical personnel to check his foot injury.
A truck was allegedly swerving 10 feet or more into lanes and ran into a curb on U.S. 93 South.
A hurried parent allegedly hit a trailer carrying lawn equipment after her purse fell. She told officers she was going to run her children to school and requested a phone call. Her vehicle was towed away.
A man was reportedly being tracked by an Apple AirTag and thought it might be linked to a U-Haul he was renting. The AirTag eventually stopped pinging near him.
Someone was confident they heard a gunshot in the area. Officers spoke to a pedestrian in the area who didn’t hear anything.
