Mac was born to Harold and Corrin Magruder on May 21, 1949. He passed away on March 29, 2026. Mac loved flying. He got his pilot’s license when he was 15 and got his driver’s license the same year, in that order.

He enjoyed flying so much that he made a career out of it. While in college, he worked for the Forest Service putting out fires. He also worked for John Denver, flying him around the states to concerts John had. He also flew oil executives from Texas all over the states as well. He really enjoyed all of that flying. He worked for Hawaiian Airlines, flying passengers. He also worked for Emery Worldwide, a cargo carrier, for several years. All total he flew in jobs for 45 years, always in the left seat as captain. He had to retire early due to spinal arthritis.

In May of 1992, he married Sheryl Skramstad Hatton. They were married for 33 years. He worked on the 33 acres they owned while Sheryl worked until retiring. After retiring, they spent their winters in Arizona, Yuma and Lake Havasu. They quit going south two years ago due to his health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Corrin Magruder, his son, David Magruder and his in-law parents, Gene and Edna Skramstad.

He’s leaving behind his wife, Sheryl, stepson, Cody Hatton, his son, Christopher (April), his daughter, Anne Potter (Terrell Potter) and four grandkids, Austin, Alexis, Colton and Gabriel Magruder.

A celebration of Mac’s life will be held later this summer. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
