NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals keep pace with split against Snow

EPHRAIM, Utah — Nevaeh McClaran, a freshman from Mountain View High in Meridian, hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning for North Idaho College in a 6-1 win over the Snow Badgers in the first game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader at the Snow College Softball Complex on Saturday.
Maya Parry, a freshman from Lindon, Utah, had three hits, including a solo home run in the sixth inning for NIC, which snapped a 10-game losing streak in the opener.
In the second game, freshman Aspen Roberts hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Cardinals in a loss to the Badgers.
Brooke Fisher and Taimane Laolagi-Aloy had two RBIs each for Snow (13-22, 7-13) in the second game.
Snow maintained a one-game lead on NIC for third place in the conference. The top four teams advance to the Region 18 Tournament on May 12-14 at the site of the conference champion.
NIC (13-28, 6-14) faces Blue Mountain Community College in a nonconference doubleheader on Thursday in Pendleton, Ore.
