POST FALLS — Down to their last out in the first game and trailing by three runs, the Lake City Timberwolves responded with a pair of two-run home runs to beat the Post Falls Trojans 12-11 in 6A Inland Empire League play on Saturday.

Lake City then completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

In the opener, after the first two Lake City batters were retired in the top of the seventh inning, Macy Waterhouse reached on an infield single. Sophomore Alexandria “Lou” Bracy followed with a two-run homer to left field to bring the Timberwolves within a run.

KaeLee Kolden tripled to center field, and senior Karsyn DeMent followed with a two-run shot to left to give Lake City the lead.

Madeline Peterson of Lake City (10-1, 2-0 6A IEL) retired Post Falls (4-6, 0-4) in order in the bottom of the seventh.

In the second game, junior Tabitha Lopez scattered three hits in a five-inning shutout for the T-Wolves.

“I loved to see our bats come alive today,” Lake City coach Jordyn Hensley said. “The fight the girls had at the end of Game 1 was incredible; that’s the kind of energy they need to keep building off of. Tabitha’s pitching in Game 2 was lights out and she kept batters off timing all game long.”

In the first game, Bracy hit a solo homer in the first inning for Lake City. DeMent finished 3 for 5 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Kulani Peahu-Michael homered twice for Post Falls in the opener — a solo shot in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fifth.

McKenna Zimmerman went 4 for 4 with a solo homer in the first and four runs scored for the Trojans.

In the second game, Kolden hit a two-run double in the third inning for Lake City. In the fourth, Bracy and Brooklyn Caan hit two-run doubles.

Post Falls travels to Lake City on Tuesday for another 6A IEL doubleheader.
