Donald Child Fletcher

Donald Child Fletcher, 86, passed away on April 8, 2026. He was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Ogden, Utah to Clyde and Viola Fletcher. He was the second of five children. His family moved to Moses Lake, Washington in February of 1953 under the Grand Coulee Project. They bought a farm in the Columbia Basin.
Don graduated from Moses Lake High School. He attended Spokane Community College until he was needed back home to help on the farm. While back home, he reconnected with LaDean Hill and they were later married on June 9, 1959, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised three children in Moses Lake. Farming was Don’s passion. Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the bishopric and had many other positions of service throughout his life.
In 2003, after 44 years of marriage, LaDean passed away. Don met Janet Washburn on a double date and they were married in 2005 in the Columbia River LDS Temple in Richland, Washington. They enjoyed taking drives together, spending time with and tending to their animals and doing yard work.
Don continued to farm with his son Troy until 2025, when his health no longer allowed him to. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Janet and children Sheri (Stuart) Platt of Moses Lake, Washington; Tracy (Reba) Fletcher of Spokane, Washington; Troy (Jodi) Fletcher of Moses Lake, Washington; and Daniel Washburn of Spokane, Washington; along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife LaDean, his parents, and his brothers Keith and Boyd.
Services are under the direction of Kayser’s Chapel of Memories. Don’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. The viewing will take place from 10 to 11 at the LDS Stake Center at 1515 S. Division St. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m.
