Libby athletes bring home gold at Lake Pend Oreille Invitational

Libby track and field turned in a strong showing Saturday at the Lake Pend Oreille Invitational, highlighted by event wins from Capri Farmer, Tristan Andersen and Alyssa Andersen, along with a slate of top-three finishes against a competitive field.

Farmer led the way for the Libby girls in the distance events, winning the 800 meters in 2:23.86 and the 1,600 in a personal-best 5:09.80. Hailey Misner added a pair of runner-up finishes in the sprints, taking second in the 100 in 12.97 seconds and second again in the 200 in 27.63. 

Reagan Vincent also had a big day, placing second in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 71 feet, 9 inches, taking second in the 400 in a personal-best 1:08.40 and finishing seventh in the 200 in 29.96.

Libby’s field athletes also made an impact on the girls side. Alyssa Andersen won the javelin with a throw of 95-5 and placed fifth in the long jump at 13-9.5, while Krisign Huff finished fifth in the shot put at 27-2, sixth in the discus at 75-4 and fourth in the javelin with a personal-best 64-7. Evalyn Cliff placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.78 and tied for sixth in the pole vault by clearing 6-6.

The Libby boys were especially strong in the field events. Tristan Andersen won the javelin with a season-best throw of 165-1, took second in the high jump at 5-10 and added a runner-up finish in the long jump at 19-1.5. 

Urijah Bache placed third in the javelin at 130-0 and fourth in the pole vault at 10-6, while Gabe Kosters was fourth in the javelin with a personal-best 124-9 and tied for fifth in the pole vault at 10-6. Bridger Moe also tied for fifth in the pole vault at 10-6 and placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.66.

Libby also got strong performances on the track from Cody Watson, who finished second in the 1,600 in 4:48.92 and third in the 3,200 in 10:35.71. Ledger Fortner placed seventh in both the 100 and 200, running 11.85 and 24.54, while Colter Anderson took fifth in the 400 in a personal-best 55.73 and added 10th in the 200 in 25.30. 

Porter Hollingsworth finished fifth in the triple jump at 34-3.5 and 14th in the 100, Isaiah Barks placed 10th in the 100 and 13th in the long jump, and Alyssa Andersen, Vincent and Misner gave Libby a strong all-around effort on the girls side.

With high places all around, Libby placed third as a team in both the boys and girls scoring for the meet.

Saturday, the Loggers will host the Libby Invitational with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
