Libby Loggers tennis splits with Bigfork

The Libby High School varsity tennis teams split with Bigfork, Saturday, in the Logger’s home opener.
The boys team claimed a 6-1 win while the Bigfork girls were 6-1 winners.
Silas Fosgate got the Loggers off and running with a three-set win over Jimmy Soniicht, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2, Zander Gassman was a 6-0, 6-2, winner over Rye Peterson. Teague Thompson shook off a first-set, 4-6, loss to beat Curtis Scherfenberg, 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Dayton Hardy scored a 6-2, 6-2, win over Rhett Feiker.
In doubles action, the Loggers nearly swept all three matches.
At No. 1, Blaise Erickson and Isaac Lamere dumped Bigfork’s Conner Riska and Parker Bach, 6-1, 6-0.
At No. 2, Cole Sunell and Alex Reate battled to a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Jimmy Soniicht and Rye Peterson.
At No. 3, Libby’s Jaxon Huni and Colby Iliff battled in a narrow loss to Curtis Scherfenberg and Rhett Feiker, 4-6, 7-6 (5).
The girls No. 2 doubles team of Shya Huck and Ashlenn James claimed Libby’s lone win, 6-2, 6-1, over Bigfork’s Bella Hickey and Jocelyn Holton.
In singles action, No. 1 Claire Fantozzi, No. 2 Augie Bailey, No. 3 Jill Stewert and Zoey Fosgate each fell in straight sets.
It was the same for Libby’s two other doubles teams, including No. 1 Bella Meyer and Aubrey Davis and No. 3 Harmony Keller and Joyce Thompson.
Libby’s JV team played Troy Tuesday. The varsity is set to play two matches Thursday at Columbia Falls. The Loggers open with Whitefish at 11 a.m. before taking on the Wildcats at 3 p.m.
