Loggers baseball split weekend slate, fall to Bigfork before topping Noxon

The Libby Loggers split a pair of weekend games, dropping a matchup to Bigfork before rebounding with a win over Noxon.
Libby opened the stretch with a 13-3 loss to Bigfork on April 9, as the Vikings used a balanced offensive attack.
Bigfork plated runs in all five innings and finished with 13 hits. Libby was limited offensively, collecting just three hits in the contest. Bransen Holzer, Hunter Rooney and Ian Thom each recorded a hit, while Thom and Rooney added RBIs. Thom also had a double while Holzer stole three bases.
On the mound, Libby used a trio of pitchers. James Woody took the loss after allowing seven runs over 1 2/3 innings. Dalton Cannon and Holzer combined to finish the game.
The Loggers bounced back April 11 with a 10-6 win over Noxon, using a strong middle-inning surge to secure the victory. The Red Devils squad includes players from all over Sanders County.
Libby jumped out early and added insurance with a three-run sixth inning to pull away. The Loggers finished with 10 hits, while Noxon committed seven errors.
Ian Thom powered the offense with a home run and three RBIs, while Bransen Holzer and Kale Hall contributed a hit and an RBI each.
On the mound, Dalton Cannon started and delivered a strong outing, allowing just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out six. Kale Riddle earned the win in relief, pitching three innings and allowing five runs while working through traffic to secure the victory.
Libby is now 2-2 on the season. The Loggers hosted Eureka Monday and will host Columbia Falls Thursday.
