Playing with a reduced lineup of only four golfers due to illness, the Superior Bobcats golf team competed in the boys portion of the Plains Invitational at Wild Horse Plains golf course west of Plains Saturday.

Phin Cataldo carded a 79 to finish third individually behind only Jarett Weeks of Plains, who shot a 76, and Eli Nocholas of Seeley-Swan, who scored 78.

Coach Seth Kuhl also guided Bobcat golfers Bryden Drey (who shot a 97), Henry Hanson (101) and Neil Orr (109) through the Plains Invite. Golfing conditions were near perfect in Plains, something Kuhl does not expect to continue this week.

Kuhl said he plans on taking his golfers to Eureka Wednesday and Thursday for the tournament there at the Tobacco Valley course but is keeping a close eye on the weather. “Hopefully we don’t take snow up there,” he said, adding “cold and wet is the forecast.”
