Melanie Jeanette Thienes (Morneau)
Aug. 24, 1934 — March 18, 2026
Melanie Thienes, 91, went to be with our Lord on March 18, 2026, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born in Wauwatosa, Wis., to Alfred and Mildred Morneau.
Mom had 10 children with our father, Ernest Willette. Cooking for 10 children was a full-time job. Great family memories of her delicious meals and daily baked bread. Mom later married a wonderful man, Carl Thienes. They enjoyed many years together. One of their fondest memories was being missionaries in Mexico.
Later in life, Mom moved to Grangeville, Idaho, and then to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to be closer to family. Mom loved the Lord and was a devout Christian. It was very important to her to raise her children knowing God. She always told the story of her Uncle Ray, who referred to her as his little “Giggling Gertie.” Her love and laughter will be truly missed.
Melanie is survived by nine of her children: Allan Willette (Terry), Post Falls, Greg Willette (Kelly), Rathdrum, Brian Willette, Spokane Wash., Paula Graves (Dana), Stites, Idaho, Debbie Taylor (Robert), Elk City, Idaho, Daniel Willette, Bayview, Idaho, Jon Willette (Guila), Olympia Wash., Randy Willette, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Gina Victorino (Paul), Bayview, Idaho, — many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Ernest and Carl, her precious daughter, Laurie Willette, and her siblings.
We want to thank the wonderful staff at Bristol Heights and Debi from Hospice for their loving care.
See you in Heaven, Mama.
