Morris John Prosser, 76
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 59 minutes AGO
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share with everyone that Morris passed away March 29, 2026, at home in Post Falls, where he wanted to be. His cherished wife and partner of 45 years, Carol, was by his side. Morris fought a hard, long battle for several years with an incurable lung disease (ILD). His well-known sense of humor never left him, even at the end. Morris was a hardworking, generous man. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand.
Morris John Prosser was born Nov. 18, 1949, in Ely, Nev. He was the son of Reese John Prosser and Eileen Mulvaney Prosser. Morris spent his younger years in Ely, Nevada. After High School, he moved to the Bonners Ferry, Idaho, area, where his uncle and grandfather, who was the sheriff of Boundary County, lived. While in Bonners Ferry, he met and married Kathy Tift. Morris and Kathy adopted two children, Julie Autumn Prosser Bach and Jeremy John James Prosser. Morris and Kathy later divorced in 1980. A friend introduced Morris to Carol Woodward in 1981. They quickly knew that they were to be soulmates for life. They were married Aug. 8, 1981, in Ely, Nev., and journeyed through life as a couple until Morris passed away, no longer in pain or suffering.
Morris was employed in the planer department of sawmills in the area. He used to say he thought he worked in the planer department of every sawmill in the area, including those in Boundary County and Kootenai County. Then he would say he also worked for 11 years for WI in Spokane, Wash., until the mill closed.
Morris loved and appreciated the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were a major part of Morris’s life when not working. Hunting was probably his favorite thing, which is evidenced by the large elk horns and a bear head on his living room wall. He spent many enjoyable hours in the mountains and on the lakes with his hunting and fishing partner, his brother-in-law, Terry Cravens. Those were very special times in his life.
After Morris retired, a cousin got him interested in family genealogy. He spent many hours researching where his family was from. He found a lot of interesting stories and newspaper articles. Morris and Carol took several trips in search of cemeteries and genealogy places, from which he could glean information. He also found family members and connected with them. He always carried a small notebook, pen and camera so he could document the information until he got home to his computer to put the information in his family tree genealogy.
Morris is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Bruce Prosser, Henderson, Nev., James Prosser, Willamette, Ore., and his sisters, Linda Roseavear, Wendover, Nev., and Wilma Gomez (Jan. 2026), Reno, Nevada.
Morris is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol, at the Post Falls home; children Julie Autumn Bach (Ed) and Jay Prosser; grandchildren Whitney Berry (Brandon), Lee Bach, Gabrielle Prosser and Emma Prosser; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls has been entrusted with the arrangements. The memorial service will be held at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on April 25 at 1 p.m., with a burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.
Please, no flowers. Donations can be made to the American Lung Association in Morris’s name or the charity of your choice.
