New grass seed mixes available
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 3 weeks, 6 days AGO
NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Noxious Weed Control Board officials have announced the availability of a variety of high‑quality grass seed mixes are now available for purchase this spring. As a new component of the Neighborhood Cost Share Program, these seed mixes are available at prices far below standard retail, helping landowners establish vigorous, competitive grass stands that serve as one of the most effective natural barriers to noxious weeds. Healthy grass populations reduce bare soil, outcompete invasive species and support long‑term land stewardship.
A variety of seed mixes, including Dryland Pasture, Premium Turf, Habitat/Weed Competitor and Forest Mix, are available in 5‑pound and 25‑pound bag options. Orders must be placed by April 23 to receive seed in May. It may be a bit late in the season to seed without irrigation, but the seed mixes can be stored in a cool, dry place and used for fall planting.
For more information or to place an order, contact the Pend Oreille County Noxious Weed Control Board by email at [email protected], by phone at 509‑447‑2402, or by visiting the office at 227 B South Garden Ave. in Newport, Washington.
