PREP BASEBALL: Trojans take two more in 6A IEL play against Lake City

COEUR d’ALENE — Marshall Tomlinson singled to score Beckett Beyer with two outs in the top of the seventh inning as Post Falls held off Lake City 4-2 in the first game of a 6A Inland Empire League game at Lake City High on Tuesday.
Senior Gavin Wienker struck out six for Post Falls in the opener.
“It was a very well-played game,” Post Falls coach Kurt Reese said. “We started to put some innings together late and Gavin was great on the mound to give us a chance after having a rough first inning. He just continued to get stronger as the game went on.”
In the nightcap, senior Bryce Berger had three RBIs and two runs scored for the Trojans, who scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to sweep the Timberwolves for the second time in four days.
“It seems like we’re starting to figure things out a little bit,” Reese said.
Post Falls (7-8, 5-2 6A IEL) travels to Moscow for a single game on Thursday.
Junior Aven Adams had two RBIs in the second game for Lake City (4-12, 0-4), which hosts Coeur d’Alene on Saturday.

LEWISTON — Bam Fenter and Jackson Hackett had two hits each for the Vikings, who were limited to five hits in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader sweep by the Bengals at Church Field.
Hunter Chambers and Beckett Larson had RBI singles in the sixth inning for Coeur d’Alene in the opener.
In the second game, senior Gavin Helms hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for the Vikings.
Coeur d’Alene (4-5) travels to Lakeland on Thursday for a single game at 4 p.m.
Lewiston is 13-6.

In the nightcap, the Wildcats scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally from an 8-0 deficit to get the win.
