PREP SOFTBALL: Timberlake wins on walk-off; Lake City sweeps Post Falls again

SPIRIT LAKE — Sophomore Prestyn Gardner singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh, stole second, moved up to third on a passed ball and scored on a grounder by junior Claire Linder as the Timberlake Tigers beat the Colville Crimson Hawks 5-4 in nonleague play Tuesday at Timberlake High. 

Linder also hit an RBI single in a three-run first inning for Timberlake (5-5). Sophomore Shae Jones struck out 18, walked two and scattered three hits for the Tigers. 

“Super proud of our girls’ effort to win despite some errors early on,” Timberlake coach Jenny Whaley said. “Shae was lights out on the mound. We are growing each game, we are still young but they are buying in to the work and growth they will have this season.” 

Colville is 4-6.  

Timberlake travels to Medical Lake today.

COEUR d’ALENE — Karsyn DeMent and Alexandria “Lou” Bracy each drove in four runs on the day as the host Timberwolves swept the Trojans in 6A Inland Empire League play for the second time in four days. 

Tabitha Lopez homered and drove in three runs in the opener for Lake City (12-1, 4-0 6A IEL), and Madeline Peterson struck out 16 in 9.2 innings. 

Peterson fanned nine and scattered three hits in the opener. 

In the second game, KaeLee Kolden went 4 for 5 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored for Lake City. DeMent was 2 for 5 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored in the nightcap. Bracy was 4 for 7 on the day, with four RBIs and four runs scored. 

Natalie Stroud went 2 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs in the second game for Post Falls (4-8, 0-6). Kulani Peahu-Michael was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the nightcap for the Trojans. 

Post Falls plays host to Moscow on Thursday in a doubleheader.  

Lake City returns to action next Tuesday at home against Coeur d’Alene for first place in the 6A IEL.

COEUR d’ALENE — Jenna Davenport struck out 13 and hit a solo homer in the sixth inning as the 6A Vikings beat the 5A Hawks at Larry Schwenke Field in a matchup of teams undefeated in their league.  

Kyndal Bridge hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for Coeur d’Alene (10-0). Abbey Linder hit a solo shot in the third. Adi Wenglikowski went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Vikings, and Ollie Dudley had two hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored twice. 

Abigail Helmholz struck out nine for Lakeland (10-4). 

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lewiston on Thursday in a doubleheader. 

Lakeland is home against Lewiston on Saturday for a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader.

KELLOGG — Senior Joci Lee pitched a no-hitter in the first game, and homered twice and drove in five runs in the nightcap, as the Wildcats swept the Lumberjacks in Central Idaho League play. 

Lee struck out 12 in the opener for Kellogg (6-4, 3-3 CIL). In the second game, she fanned 10, allowed three hits, and went 3 for 3 with five RBIs. For the day, she finished 5 for 6 with seven RBIs. 

Kelcie Dechand drove in three runs in the second game for the Wildcats, two on a fifth-inning single. 

Addilyn Turner hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning of the second game for St. Maries (1-4, 0-3). 

On Friday, St. Maries plays host to Orofino in CIL play, and Kellogg is home vs. Priest River in a CIL doubleheader.
