Alpine Theatre Project's spring teen production of “Beetlejuice Jr.” opens Friday, April 17, with three performances in Whitefish.

The show, adapted from the smash-hit Broadway musical and based on Tim Burton's beloved film, features talented young performers from across the Flathead Valley working with Broadway choreographer Michael McCrary. The production is directed by ATP Artistic Director Tracy McDowell.

"Beetlejuice Jr." tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole "being dead thing." When Lydia and her father move into a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple — and a mischievous demon named Beetlejuice with a real zest for life — chaos ensues.

"These kids are fearless," said McDowell. "They're nailing comedic timing, landing complicated choreography, and performing at a level that would hold its own on any professional stage.  These are incredible young performers."

Shows are April 17 and 18 at 7 p.m., and April 19 at 4 p.m. at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, 127 Spokane Ave.
