A Polson man is accused of intentionally ramming his vehicle into another vehicle in the parking lot of St. Joseph Hospital to possibly harm himself. Bo David Bourdon, 36, entered a plea of not guilty in District Court in Polson on April 8 to assault with a weapon.
According to charging documents, on Feb. 27 at approximately 10:34 p.m., Bourdon drove his gold Chevy Malibu at a high rate of speed into an occupied blue Ford Fiesta, knocking it backward. The Chevy continued forward colliding with an occupied Toyota Tacoma that was trying to leave a parking space.
Polson Police officers observed three damaged vehicles, two with severe front-end damage, the Chevy and Ford. Both were rendered inoperable.
Bourdon was taken to the emergency room to be evaluated after appearing confused and unaware of what was going on. A witness said it appeared as if Bourdon drove his Chevy into the Ford on purpose.
Security footage of the parking lot shows the Chevy entering the parking lot at a high rate of speed with no headlights on and no attempt to slow down or avoid the collision.
During an interview with the officers, Bourdon became agitated to the point he had to be restrained to his hospital bed. He grabbed an alcohol/drug test form away from one of the officers.
He also kicked at one of the officers and hospital staff. While staff was attending to Bourdon they overheard him telling police he may have been suicidal.
Judge Molly Owen set the case for trial on Aug. 31. Bourdon remains at liberty.
