Polson Seniors: AARP Safe Drivers course is Tuesday

The AARP Safe Drivers course will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the center. The course costs $25, and AARP members receive a $5 discount.
The course includes no testing, an easy-to-follow video, a take-home manual and an expert group leader to sharpen your driving knowledge. Completion of the course makes you eligible for a discount on your car insurance. You must sign up at the center before the day of the course; no walk-ins are allowed.
We have an open part-time cook’s helper position. Job applications are available at the center from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Activities at the center, open to all, include: Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominoes, chess or mahjong (invite a foursome); self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and playing card bingo at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month; and pinochle, 12:30 p.m. on Mondays (no pass) and Thursdays (standard).
The pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly at the center. We also have a variety of five-handed, no-partner pass-one-card games.
Cribbage is organized weekly on Wednesdays. A name and phone number are required. All skill levels are welcome. This is not league-affiliated and has no fees.
The Bowling Fun League is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. at the Sportspage Bowl. The Spinning Wheelers meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.
A veteran’s service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month. Kiwanis meets at 12 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the center.
We have space for small groups to meet for social, health or educational purposes. Wednesdays are best; other weekdays are as well. Our community center is open for special events on weekends and evenings. Call for details.
Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays and are delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.
Upcoming main dishes include: meatloaf, April 16; oven-baked omelet, April 17; potato soup, April 20; chicken dumplings, April 21; soft shell taco, April 22; Seattle hot dog, April 23; and baked ham with all the fixings, April 24.
