Wolfpack Theatre Company explores what happens when time runs out

What would you do if you only had eight minutes left to live?
This is the central question behind “8 Minutes Left,” a fast-paced and emotional play by E.B. Lee, to be performed by the Wolfpack Theatre Company at 6:33 p.m. April 22-23.
Filled with heart and humor, “8 Minutes Left” explores how people react when they find out the world is about to end. The play takes place in a small, imaginary town and runs in real time as different characters experience the final eight minutes before everything is gone.
“At its core, the show is about perspective. When faced with the possibility that time is running out, a group of students must wrestle with their relationships, regrets, fears and hopes,” director Greg Adkins said. “It explores how people respond differently under pressure and what we choose to value when everything else falls away.”
The play weaves together several short vignettes. Each scene introduces new characters who portray a unique and deeply human response to the same impending fate. From a couple struggling to access their carefully prepared bunker, to lifelong rivals arguing over a park bench, to a mother quietly reflecting on her children’s futures, the play reveals both the humor and heartbreak that emerge in times of crisis.
“I was drawn to ‘8 Minutes Left’ because of its urgency and relevance. It places characters in a high-stakes, time-sensitive situation that forces them to confront who they are and what truly matters,” said Adkins. “I hope audiences leave thinking about how they spend their time and how they treat the people around them. Ideally, it encourages a little more gratitude, a little more empathy, and a renewed focus on what really matters.”
With a mix of comedy and serious moments, the production explores universal themes of love, regret, connection and the passage of time as characters grapple with unfinished business, fractured relationships and unspoken truths. Despite its apocalyptic premise, “8 Minutes Left” is not about the end — it is about the moments that define us.
The play is produced by the Glacier High School Acting and Stage Class.
“We started with script analysis and character work, then built the show through blocking, rehearsals, and technical development, all within the school day,” Adkins said. “This is a really strong and committed group of students. They’ve embraced both the responsibility and the opportunity to create something meaningful together.”
