Students and teachers at Kellogg High School and Wallace Jr./Sr. High School will see new leadership next school year.
On Tuesday, the Kellogg School Board accepted the resignation of Kellogg High School Principal Dan Davidian. Davidian spent seven years with the district, including three years as principal of Kellogg Middle School and the past four leading the high school. He also served as head football coach during his tenure.
Davidian recently accepted a position with the Post Falls School District and expressed gratitude for his time in Kellogg, crediting both former Superintendent Dr. Nancy Larson and current Superintendent Lance Pearson for their support.
“They have been amazing to work for,” Davidian said. “Being the head coach of KHS football for six years was also a great experience, and I loved every minute of it. The opportunity to go to Post Falls was kind of the perfect storm. It makes sense for me and my family since I live in that area.”
Pearson praised Davidian’s professionalism and dedication to the district.
“His work ethic and dedication to the Kellogg community were exceptional,” Pearson said. “We wish him well and suspect he will flourish in his new position. We are grateful for the time he spent with us at Kellogg.”
The district plans to begin its search for a new high school principal immediately and hopes to have the position filled by mid‑May.
In Wallace, Jr./Sr. High School Principal Don Almquist is retiring following his second stint leading the school. Because Almquist provided advance notice of his retirement, the Wallace School District has already hired his replacement.
“Mr. Almquist is an amazing principal, collegial partner and advocate for the Wallace School District,” Superintendent Todd Howard said. “Through his tenure, he has played a key role in developing the school’s culture and the success of our students. There is no greater supporter of Wallace Jr./Sr. High School.”
Howard said Almquist’s constant presence and commitment to students and staff will be deeply missed.
“He truly is there because he cares about each and every person in that school,” Howard said.
Almquist has spent 52 years in education, teaching in seven districts across Idaho, Montana and Washington, though he said Wallace stands apart.
“I started being principal in Wallace during the 2011‑12 school year,” Almquist said. “When I was hired, two areas needed improvement — staff morale and student morale. We improved that in one year, and it has been a strength ever since. The kids and the staff are the best I’ve ever had.”
On Monday, the Wallace School Board officially hired Dr. D’Lisa Penny as the school’s next principal.
