'Rumble in the Rockies' soccer set for April 25-26

A major youth soccer tournament is coming to Whitefish next weekend, and Nate Evans of the Glacier Surf Soccer Club feels it will only get better.

The First Annual Rumble in the Rockies will draw soccer teams age 9-19 to the Smith Fields in Whitefish April 25-26. 

Evans, director of coaching and operations for the Glacier Surf Soccer Club, felt the time was right to begin such an event. 

“We’re just extremely excited to host this event for players in the Flathead Valley and the surrounding communities,” Evans said. “It’s a great time economically for the Flathead Valley. Year one will be really good, but years two and beyond will be great.” 

Evans said teams from Idaho, Alberta and Washington will take to the 10 pitches at Smith Fields.  

“It should be a great weekend of soccer,” he said.
