Thomas William Sikes, 79, born on Nov. 7, 1946, to Paul and Joyce (Managhan) Sikes, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center with family at his side.

Tom attended schools in Libby, Montana, graduating in 1964. After turning 18 he was hired by J. Neils Lumber Company. Soon after, he was drafted into the Army and did a tour in Vietnam. Tom always liked to say he served one year, nine months and eight days. He returned home in 1967 and in 1968 married Cynthia “Cindy” Nixon.

During his working career he was employed by J. Neils, St. Regis, Champion and Stimson until the mill closed. Tom attended the college building trades class and was proud of his achievement. After that he went to work for Lee Disney at the pellet plant until his health forced him to retire.

Together Tom and Cindy had three children: Becky (Seth) Brookshire of Libby, Montana, Paul (Carla) Sikes of Pueblo, Colorado, and Sam (Mary) Sikes of Libby, Montana; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandsons; and the first great-granddaughter due in July.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother Casey and sister Sue.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; brother Steve; and sister Robin Lier; many great and wonderful friends; and relatives. Tom’s loving nature and sense of humor will be missed.

There will be a celebration of his life in June.
