Glacier, Flathead drop 2 in Helena

HELENA — Glacier had a nice comeback undone by the long ball Saturday, with Trinity Marble’s two-run home run in the seventh lifting Belgrade to a 7-6 win at the Helena Softball Crossover.
The Wolfpack then fell to Billings West 11-7 later Saturday — their first two losses of the season.
Flathead played the same opponents and also lost twice: 4-0 to West and 12-4 to Belgrade.
Belgrade 7, Glacier 6
The Wolfpack rallied from an early 4-1 deficit to lead 6-5 on back-to-back, two-out, RBI singles by Karley Allen and Taelor Holt in the sixth inning.
Ava Grady’s two-run single in the fifth knotted the score 4-4, before Belgrade (9-1) got an unearned run in its half of the fifth.
Kinna Griffis homered to start the Panthers’ four-run first inning — the third and fourth runs scoring on errors with two outs.
Grady went four innings in the circle, allowing five hits, a walk and two earned runs. She struck out four. Olivia Warriner relieved, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out two.
Chloe Farrell started Glacier’s comeback with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

The Wolfpack (7-2) rallied in this one as well, trimming away most of a 7-3 deficit before Billings West got a three-run home run from Rylie Watt — again in the seventh — to push its lead back to four.
Olivia Warriner’s home run in the sixth had cut Glacier’s deficit to 8-7.
Taelor Holt hit an RBI double in a three-run first inning for Glacier. West answered with seven runs in the second inning, capped by two-run double by Tatum Bush. Bush also went the distance in the circle, allowing four walks and striking out 12.
Grady threw five innings of relief, striking out four.

June Stickney settled down after a rocky first inning, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out 10, but the Bravettes couldn’t break through against West pitchers Kylie King and Sara Schneider.
King allowed all three Bravette hits in her four innings and fanned three. Schneider retired all nine batters she faced, five by strikeout. Bush hit a two-run homer in the first for the Golden Bears, and Alise Steinmetz followed with a solo shot.

Macey McIlhargey’s two-run single drew Flathead into a 3-3 tie in the third inning, but it was almost all Belgrade after that.
Three Bravette errors and a squeeze bunt let the Panthers take the lead for good in the fourth, 5-3; Belgrade (10-1) sent 10 hitters to the plate in a six-run sixth inning, with Bailee White’s two-run double keying the charge.
McIlhargey went the distance in the circle for Flathead (3-7), allowing 12 hits and two walks. She fanned four.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Brooklyn Smith’s grand slam staked Frenchtown to a 6-0 lead in the second inning, and after the Wildkats closed the gap to 8-7, Smith hit a sacrifice fly to cap a four-run seventh for the Broncs.
Kate Lewellen had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for Columbia Falls (4-2). Her RBI single cut Frenchtown’s lead to 8-6, and she later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kylie Gjesdall-Davis.
Frenchtown then strung together five hits and a walk in the seventh to take control.
Dayvian Edwards had three hits and Ella Timlick had a double among her two hits. Edwards, Lewellen and Timlick scored twice; Kendal Moultrey also hit a double.
Thompson Falls 18, Whitefish 8
THOMPSON FALLS — Marley Robinson singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs, and Thompson-Falls rapped out 24 hits in the win.
Nevaeh Christensen and Kylee Borgmann both with 4-for-4 with a double for the Bluehawks; Christensen and Addie Traver, who also hit a double, drove in three runs each. Kassidy Dana and Robinson both scored three times in the game, which ended in the bottom of the fifth under the 10-run rule.
Allie Stuart and Elliot Gallagher each had three hits for Whitefish, which had 14 hits overall. Stuart drove in three runs; her RBI single capped a four-run second inning and gave the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead.
Thompson Falls responded with six runs in its half, all after two were out. Traver’s two-run double put the Bluehawks up for good, 7-5.
Florence 19, Eureka 1; Florence 13, Eureka 1
FLORENCE — Jaden Fisher was unstoppable for 7-0 Florence, homering in both ends of the Falcons’ doubleheader sweep.
Fisher also pitched the opener, allowing four hits and striking out seven, and went 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
Elizabeth Camp went the distance for Florence in the second game, allowing five hits and three walks with one strikeout. Fisher hit her second two-run homer of the day. Both games ended after five innings under the mercy rule.
Maren Lytle had two hits in the first game for Eureka (4-6); Lily McAfee and Lytle each had two hits in the second game, and Evie Holm had Eureka’s lone RBI on the day.
