PREP ROUNDUP: Timberlake falls to Bonners Ferry in first of three IML showdowns

• BASEBALL

BONNERS FERRY — Timberlake jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but a six-run fifth lifted the Bonners Ferry Badgers past the Tigers 11-6 in an Intermountain League game on Friday at Bonners Ferry High, the first of three games between the two 4A schools in the north. 

Keenan Maas hit a three-run double to give Bonners Ferry a 7-4 lead in the fifth, and the Badgers tacked on two more runs for a 9-4 lead. 

Ronin Hanson hit a two-run double in the sixth for Bonners Ferry (5-11). 

Timberlake took a 4-0 lead after Tanner Van Tassel was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Junior Nate Beardsall had three hits and two RBIs for Timberlake (8-8). 

Timberlake hosts Orofino today at 2 p.m. 

Timberlake and Bonners Ferry play a doubleheader next Friday at John Shaffer Field in Spirit Lake to conclude the regular season.

OSBURN — The Wildcats dropped to 2-14 overall, 2-6 in Central Idaho League play after being swept by the Spartans (10-3, 6-3) in a doubleheader at Morehouse Field.

The teams meet again on Tuesday in Priest River.

ST. MARIES — The Lumberjacks dropped to 2-6, 2-5 in Central Idaho League play after being swept by the Maniacs at PotlatchDeltic Field. 

Sawyer Nantell had two hits and an RBI and run scored in the first game for St. Maries. 

In the nightcap, Orofino's Quinton Naranjo had three doubles and nine RBIs for the Maniacs (14-1, 9-0), the top-ranked team in the 3A classification according to MaxPreps.com, which is used to seed the state tournament. 

St. Maries faces Grangeville in a doubleheader today at noon, at games moved to Airport Park in Lewiston.

ST. MARIES — Lyssa Watkins went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in the opener for the host Lumberjacks, who were swept by the Maniacs in Central Idaho League play. 

St. Maries (1-6, 0-5 CIL) is scheduled to travel to Grangeville today for a CIL doubleheader at noon. 

Orofino is 11-2, 8-1.

KELLOGG — Senior Joci Lee pitched a no-hitter in the first game and a one-hitter in the nightcap as the host Wildcats swept the Spartans in Central Idaho League play at Kellogg Middle School. 

Lee struck out nine in the first game and six in the second game for Kellogg (8-4, 5-3 CIL).  

Junior Addison Kunze went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored in the opener for the Wildcats. Sophomore Ella Kunze was 3 for 3 with a two-run single in an eight-run second inning. Sophomore Malena Munoz was 3 for 3 with three RBIs. 

In the second game, Lee went 2 for 3 with a three-run double in the first inning and a solo homer in the second. 

Priest River dipped to 1-12, 0-8. 

Kellogg travels to Priest River on Tuesday.
