Full caption: This past Saturday, April 11, Sandpoint Little League kicked off its 42nd Annual Opening Day Ceremony at War Memorial Field. To start things off, all 442 players across the league's 39 teams, which includes both baseball and softball, were introduced to a large crowd while crossing home plate and giving high-fives to players who compete in the league's Juniors division. New this year was a special event titled "Buddy Ball", where Juniors softball players played a modified version of t-ball with the kids in the league's Challengers division, reserved for those with disabilities. "We had a wonderful showing of support from generous sponsorships from the businesses in our community," SLL President Bethanny Danish said. "This year's numbers are up from last, and the fields will be constantly filled in our community, including the use of the Nazarene Church and the Seventh Day Adventist Church fields. We are grateful for the partnerships with the city and those churches that allow us to utilize their fields. Looking forward to another great season." Danish also noted a special thanks to the City of Sandpoint Parks & Recreation crew for preparing and maintaining the fields, and for working hand-in-hand with the league every step of the way.
