PREP SOFTBALL: Corbey hits four homers as Lakeland sweeps Lewiston

RATHDRUM — Junior Jaiden Corbey hit four home runs and drove in seven runs as the first-place Lakeland Hawks swept the visiting Lewiston Bengals 16-6 and 9-6 in 5A Inland Empire League softball on Saturday. 

In the first game, Corbey hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and a solo shot in the sixth for Lakeland (12-4, 6-0 5A IEL). Kiersten Drake homered in the third for the Hawks, and finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. 

In the second game, Corbey hit two-run homers in the second and third innings. 

Abigail Helmholz struck out nine in the opener for Lakeland. 

In the second game, Avah Gonzales was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and two runs scored. 

Lewiston is 4-12, 3-3. 

Lakeland travels to Moscow on Tuesday for a 5A IEL doubleheader. Moscow (2-15, 1-5) was swept at Sandpoint (6-10, 4-6) 11-1 and 16-2 on Saturday.

GRANGEVILLE — The visiting Lumberjacks were swept by the first-place Bulldogs in Central Idaho League play. 

Lyssa Watkins had two hits in the first game for St. Maries (1-8, 0-7 CIL). Brooklyn Scheffelmaier, Taryn Brebner, Lyla Maetche and Letty Smith had two hits each for the Lumberjacks in the nightcap. 

Grangeville is 8-8, 6-0. 

St. Maries plays host to Timberlake on Wednesday in a doubleheader.
