A woman who had been trespassed from Skyway Elementary School scaled a fence and entered school property Monday afternoon, triggering a brief lockdown, according to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department.

Stephanie A. Sokolowski, 38, of Coeur d'Alene, is charged with trespassing and eluding, both a misdemeanor, in connection with the incident.

Police said school staff recognized Sokolowski, who "had previously been trespassed from the property due to custody-related issues involving her children," when she allegedly jumped the fence around 3:15 p.m.

School personnel placed the school on lockdown immediately and contacted police, according to a news release. Sokolowski allegedly fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived.

Officers with the Coeur d'Alene Police Department responded to Skyway, with the assistance of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.

Additional responding officers found Sokolowski nearby and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of North Ramsey Road and West Dalton Avenue. Police "safely detained" Sokolowski, according to a news release.

The lockdown lasted for about five minutes and was lifted after police detained Sokolowski.
