Debbie Mae (Brown) Schaeffer, 68, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Kalispell surrounded by her loving family. She is now in the arms of the Lord, free from pain and suffering.
She was born in Aberdeen, Washington, to Lewis Brown and Carol (Reeves) Brown. She grew up in Montesano, Washington, alongside her siblings, Roy Brown (deceased) and Pamela Kullander. On Dec. 18, 1982, Debbie married the love of her life, Russell Schaeffer. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, living in Montana, Alaska and Washington before ultimately returning to Montana. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
Debbie had a heart full of love and a spirit that brought light to those around her. She enjoyed the simple joys in life — time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter, and creating a warm and welcoming home. Debbie enjoyed woodworking, fishing, crocheting and tending to her flowers. Whether she was sharing stories around the table, working with her hands, or enjoying playing games, she made every moment feel special. She had a gift for making others feel welcomed and cared for, and her kindness and strength left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Russ Schaeffer of Kalispell; her sons, Jeremy Schaeffer of Valdez, Alaska, and Michael Schaeffer of Valdez, Alaska; her daughters, Jeniffer Wilson of Montesano, Washington and Maria Cavallero of Covington, Washington; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held this summer to honor and remember the love and joy Debbie shared with everyone she met.
