Arbor Day

Columbia Falls Arbor Day is Friday, May 1 at Marantette Park, where several trees will be planted at noon, with a host of elementary school children. The public is invited to attend.

Spaghetti Feed

The Columbia Falls American Legion Post 72 will have a free spaghetti feed April 24 (this Friday).  Open to all, veterans and families from 4:30-7 p.m. at Montana Veterans Home, Service Building, 400 Veterans Drive.

City sewer, water open house

The City of Columbia Falls will have an open house on its sewer and water capacity and how much it could cost to upgrade the systems for future development. The sewage system alone could cost upwards of $30 million. The city is considering expanding sewer to the West down Walsh Road to serve the Highway 2 corridor where businesses would like to expand near the airport, which could help defray the cost of expansion. The open house starts at  5 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m. The public and developers are encouraged to attend.

Biker access open to the Loop

Hikers and bikers can now go to the Loop on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, even when plow crews are working. The park did not provide an update on plowing progress by press time. The Chief Mountain Road is also open for the season, though the Two Medicine Road has closed down to Running Eagle Falls due to construction near the lake. Plows on the west side have made it as far as Road Camp, just under three miles from the pass.
